Dr. Michael H. Alderman Medical Advisor
Michael Alderman, MD, Professor of Public Health at Albert Einstein
College of Medicine, is Past President of the American Society of
Hypertension. He is a participant in most U.S. and European organizations
devoted to treatment of hypertension, including the editorial boards
of the American Journal of Hypertension and the Journal of Hypertension.
Dr. Martha N. Hill Medical Advisor
Martha Hill, PhD, RN, is Professor of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University
School of Nursing, and Immediate Past President of the American
Heart Association. Her work in hypertension in a disadvantaged population
in Baltimore has gained worldwide recognition. During her presidency
of AHA, she forged an alliance between the Association and several
major pharmaceutical companies to improve blood pressure control
in the U.S. Dr. Hill is a passionate advocate of better health through
better communication between patients and providers, and recently
chaired a National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Working Group
on Compliance.
Dr. Nancy Houston Miller Medical Advisor
Nancy Houston Miller, RN, PhD, is Associate Director of the Stanford
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. She is past Chairman of the California
Affiliate of the American Heart Association and served on the National
Board of Directors of the Heart Association. Nancy is also a co-founder
of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association, and is one
of the developers of the MULTIFIT program, a nurse case management
system for cardiovascular risk reduction and chronic disease management
such as congestive heart failure.
Dr. Eoin O’Brien Medical Advisor
Eoin O'Brien, MD, is one of the foremost international authorities
on validation of blood pressure monitors. He heads the British Society
of Hypertension's validation group, which sets standards used throughout
Europe. He is also working with the U.S. Association for the Advancement
of Medical Instrumentation to develop a universal standard. Dr.
O’Brien is chairman of the Working Group on Blood Pressure
Monitoring of the International Society of Hypertension.
Dr. Thomas G. Pickering Medical Advisor for
NIH Trials
Thomas Pickering, MD, PhD is one of the world's leading authorities
on blood pressure monitoring. Professor of Medicine at Cornell University,
he is also Past President of the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
He was chairman of the ad hoc Committee on Home and Ambulatory
Monitoring of the American Society of Hypertension, and is a member
of the Working Group on Blood Pressure Monitoring of the International
Society of Hypertension. In addition to editing the journal Blood
Pressure Monitoring, Dr. Pickering founded the Hypertension
Network (www.bloodpressure.com), cited by the journal Current
Hypertension Reports as the best site for hypertension on the
web.
Dr. Sheldon G. Sheps Medical Advisor
Sheldon Sheps, MD, of the Mayo Clinic, Mayo Foundation and Mayo
Medical School, was Chairman of the last Joint National Committee
on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood
Pressure (JNC VI) of the National Institutes of Health. JNC VI is
the official guideline for diagnosis and management of hypertension
in the United States. JNC VI recommends home blood pressure monitoring
to detect white coat hypertension, monitor response to therapy,
improve patient compliance and reduce cost of care.

Henry Solomon, MD, is Cardiology Medical Director for Roche Pharmaceuticals.
