They unanimously recommended that this service become a part of their standard clinical procedure.
  • 95% found the service “useful” or “very useful.”
  • 79% of physicians reported that patients’ compliance with medication was improved.
  • 95% reported better blood pressure control.
  • 82% said that they refrained from prescribing medication for patients with white coat hypertension.
  • 80% said that telemonitoring reduced office visits.
  • 100% of respondents said the service should be made available for all of their hypertensive patients.

CLINICIAN COMMENTS

  • “We’ve got a pregnant woman who is hypertensive, and she has only one kidney. The only reason she’s not in the hospital right now is your telemonitoring service. We’re constantly adjusting her aldomet, and if it weren’t for the daily home blood pressure reports, with lots of readings each day, we would have to bring her into the hospital. I love this system.”-- Paul Bernstein MD, Rochester General Hospital

  • “I’ve got a lot of patients who tell me their pressure is fine when they check it in the drugstore, and it’s only high when they see me. I know that in some cases this is true, but in others it isn’t, and I can’t tell which is which. Giving them this monitor is like sitting behind a two-way mirror... I can tell what’s really going on in their lives.” --Virginia Littauer RN, Nurse Case Manager

  • “Using this system in pregnancy is terrific. It was so clear to me when things were changing. I would look at the report and say ‘tomorrow, I’m going to start her on medication.’ I really enjoy using it.” - - Ellen Seely MD, Brigham & Women’s Hospital High Risk Pregnancy Center

  • “I was skeptical at first, but now I see the point… I’ve got patients whose blood pressure is good, but they would come in once a month to make sure. Now, they check whenever they want, and your system tells them they’re okay. I see their pressures every month, but I see them only once in 6 months.”--Ronald Wheeler MD, Primary Care Center Leader, Kaiser Permanente Largo Medical Center
